The Right to Buy/Right to Acquire is a complex area of law where those working in the sector frequently work alone. This workshop is aimed at solicitors and RTB/RTA officers, and will provide attendees with the opportunity to explore aspects of the Right to Buy and Right to Acquire at a greater depth and exchange good practice. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to bring their own difficult cases to the group to discuss the options available. The focus of the workshop will be on active learning, collaboration and practical problem solving.

This workshop will cover:

  • The latest on the extension of the RTB to Housing Associations
  • Cost floor level calculations
  • Interpreting and applying exclusions from the RTB/RTA
  • Getting the best price for the properties
  • Latest cases in the Property Tribunal and Courts
  • Reducing fraud
  • Fostering sustainable home ownership
  • Exchange of good practice
  • Discussion of options available for complex cases
