Information Management Conference 2018 Programme

When it was implemented on 25th May, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) replaced the existing EU data protection directive and applied directly in the UK, notwithstanding Brexit. GDPR provides stronger privacy rights for individuals and imposes more prescriptive compliance obligations on those processing personal data, including local authorities. The GDPR also has to be read alongside the Data Protection Act 2018 which, together with GDPR, makes our data protection laws fit for the digital age, empowers people to take control of their data, supports UK businesses and organisations through the change, and ensures that the UK is prepared for the future once we have left the EU.

With serious consequences for non-compliance, it is essential that data protection teams understand the new framework and keep abreast of best practice to ensure they continue to maintain compliance with the new regime.

LLG Legal Training’s Information Management Conference 2018 will provide a highly topical and practical day’s training, bringing you up to date with the current issues facing those working in this challenging area. Sessions will include GDPR lawful processing, data breaches under GDPR, FOI case law developments, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the section 40 exemption under FOI.

This conference is a must attend for all local authority data protection and freedom of information lawyers, officers and practitioners, and anyone involved in the processing of data within councils.
