The government’s housing policy is focused around helping councils and developers work with local communities to plan and build better places to live for everyone. With an ambitious target of delivering 300,000 new homes in England by the mid-2020s, the aspiration to ‘fix the broken housing market’ includes building affordable housing, improving the quality of rented housing, helping more people to buy a home, and providing housing support for vulnerable people.

As the sector continues to navigate the turbulent waters of housing policy, local authorities need to look creatively at how they can achieve the current administration’s objective of getting government back into the business of building houses.

LLG Legal Training’s 2018 housing conference promises a topical, practical and thought-provoking programme including sessions on estate regeneration, models for the delivery of new homes, homelessness reduction, housing joint ventures, fire safety in tower blocks, and affordable housing provision.
