Effective income generation is crucial to the strong management of resources and efficient delivery of services. This practical workshop will help you develop and make use of some vital tools by taking you through the practical steps of identifying opportunities and discussing how to produce and use income generation strategies. The workshop will include charging and trading; regeneration; structuring land disposal to deliver maximum value; making effective use of assets; and the use of companies and other entities. Key legal and practical issues will be discussed including:

  • Strategies for revenue generation, robust analysis; how deliverable is the business case and aligning with your key objectives
  • Powers and any constraints on these, including reference to the different powers available for charging and trading and when to use them
  • Structuring a land disposal to achieve best consideration and where possible, income generation, and how best to meet your objectives
  • Obligations when disposing of particular types of land and the pitfalls to be aware of
  • Asset backed delivery vehicles and other structures
  • When a company is required and the issues to be aware of when setting up and using a company

This workshop will be useful for anyone involved in developing or implementing revenue generation strategies for their local authority, and anyone who has a particular interest in or questions relating to income generation.
