This course will provide an introduction to the new Model Code of Conduct for elected members which has been developed by the LGA. The course comprises two pre-recorded modules covering:
Module 1: When the Code applies, general principles and standards of councillor conduct
Module 2: Interests and gifts/hospitality
Each module will explore the provisions of the new model Code, draw on guidance to be published by the LGA and compare the new Code with previous provisions councils may have had in place.
The pre-recorded modules are followed by a live workshop, providing the opportunity to discuss mini scenarios and explore some tricky issues in relation to the Code.
This course is suitable for monitoring officers and heads of legal, as well as anyone interested in this topic, particularly if your council is considering adopting the new Code in the next municipal year.
The sessions will be delivered by Bethan Evans, an experienced local government lawyer, Monitoring Officer and trainer.
