Full programme will be released in due course, however, to kick off the conference, join us for a session on the “Future Shape of Local Government” chaired by LLG’s President, Quentin Baker.
Over the last year, the pandemic brought the importance and value of local decision making to the fore. Yet many local authorities struggled with lack of resources, with some on a financial knife edge. Crisis decision making brought with it a new approach to governance and scrutiny. With the elections came a shift in control in many areas, and new leadership and ideas. So, what should we learn from this and what does the future hold?
Speakers will include Viv Geary who will elaborate on lessons learned from the Liverpool best value report, Jacqui McKinlay who will speak about the essential tools of Scrutiny and Governance in the prevention of failure and Bethan Evans who will talk about management of a swiftly changing political landscape and speaking truth to power.
